ROUTE 1: THE BRIDGES OF LABOREIRO
Along this 8 km route, we will discover the surroundings of the Castro Laboreiro river in the Portuguese are of Gerês, visiting the medieval bridges and walking along ancient stone roads. We will cross a poldrado (a typical passing area of Galician rivers) to reach the “Cavada Vella” bridge, also know as “Ponte Nova” or New Bridge.
Then, we will cross the “Assureira” bridge with its mill and chapel, and finally cross the “Dorna” footbridge. Before arriving at the village of Pontes, we will visit an ancient stone aqueduct and stroll through this unique village, which has been turned into a rural tourist resort.
Before lunch we will climb up to the medieval Castro Laboreiro Castle, which offers beautiful views of the mountain ranges of A Paneda, O Quinxo and O Xurés. On the way down we can also visit the Castro Eco-museum and visit the river viewpoint.

ROUTE 2: LAS BRANDAS DE LA SIERRA (SEASONAL SETTLEMENTS)
We will depart from Lindoso along a cobbled road that climbs up to the area of Las Brandas (the spring and summer settlements of the livestock herders) at the start of the Serra Amarela mountain range, where we can visit a shepherds’ hut and an old chivana.
The climb provides spectacular views of the Serra do Quinzo and Serra do Soajo mountain ranges.
We will also visit the castle with a local guide (price: 3 euros per person) and the Porta do Gerês Information Centre.
Distance: 9 Km. Difficulty: moderate.
ROUTE 3: BETWEEN THE MONASTRY AND THE WATERFALL
This route will take us along ancient paths and through oak woodlands, from the village of Pitoes to the old monastery of Santa María das Junias and the rural landscape of La Cascata.
We will also walk through the village of Pitoes, visiting the Eco-museum and the public oven, and there is an obligatory stop at the Taberna Celta and the Bakery.
